Impact & transparency

Every sponsorship should be explainable.

We do not accept outside donations, but we still believe the Foundation should be accountable for every dollar it spends.

Each sponsorship is tracked at the individual-student level. Student support is recorded against the scholar's ledger, enrollment is confirmed each semester, and our records are independently reviewed.

Anatomy of a sponsorship

What a sponsorship covers.

One scholar, one full course of study, and everything required to finish it — carried for as long as the study lasts.

  1. 01

    Tuition & fees

Paid directly to the university or training institution.

  2. 02

    Housing

Safe accommodation, and rent where that is what the course requires.

  3. 03

    Meals

Reliable daily meals for the length of the course.

  4. 04

    Materials

Books, equipment, and whatever else the course requires.

  5. 05

    Transport

Transportation to and from the student's place of study, including travel home during academic holidays and breaks, so students can remain connected to their families and communities.

  6. 06

    Other approved costs

Other necessary student-specific costs approved as part of that scholar's sponsorship.

Verification note

Verification is paid separately by the Foundation and is never deducted from a sponsorship.

Verification stack

How we verify.

Each layer is documentary. Any single claim on this page can be traced back to a signed record. Select a link in the chain to see the record it produces, who provides it, and when it is reviewed.

  1. Evidence created
A written nomination naming the student and the course of study.
    Provided by
The operating program and its community.
    What it confirms
Selection is made locally, not by the Foundation.
    When it is reviewed
    Before a sponsorship is confirmed.
  2. In addition, the Foundation visits in person each year, because records should be checked against reality.

Reporting

Read the full record.

An annual stewardship report is published in full, whether or not anyone asks for it: scholars supported, continuity, completion, the independent reviewer’s letter, and what did not go to plan.

The first verified reporting cycle is forthcoming. Reports will be published here as each cycle is independently reviewed, and nothing will be posted before it has been.

Commitments

What we hold ourselves to.

  • Every sponsorship is attributable to one named student.
  • Every claim is independently verified.
  • Every scholar is funded through graduation.
  • Every story is told with consent.
  • We take no outside money.

For education programs

Transparency is the easy part when nobody is being asked for money.
