Standard
We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where we fall short of it, we treat that as a defect, not a preference.
Accessibility
A foundation built around access to education has no excuse for a site that is hard to use. This page states our standard and how to hold us to it. Effective 12 August 2026.
What we do
We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where we fall short of it, we treat that as a defect, not a preference.
Every link, button, filter, and dialog can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring throughout.
Semantic landmarks, a skip link to the main content, one heading hierarchy per page, and labelled form fields.
Text and interface colors are checked against AA contrast ratios on both our ivory and forest-green surfaces.
Animation is subtle by design and is reduced automatically when your system asks for reduced motion.
Images and diagrams carry text alternatives, and the interactive map is fully usable without it.
Known limits
No material accessibility limitations are currently documented. If you encounter an accessibility issue anywhere on this site, please contact us so it can be addressed.
If something here is unusable for you — a page, a document, a control — tell us at accessibility@jrbrownfoundation.org. Describe what you were trying to do and we will fix it or send you the content in a format that works.
